Galerie Nathalie Obadia is pleased to present for the first time the work of the artist Antoine Renard, who was discovered during the exhibition Future, Old, Fugitive. Une scène française au Palais de Tokyo (2019). A graduate of the ENSA in Dijon, winner of the Occitanie Prize of the Villa Médicis, a support grant from the CNAP, the SACRe 2020 doctoral program of the PSL University and the Beaux Arts de Paris, the artist is devoting himself in parallel to his practice to a thesis on olfaction as an extended field of sculpture. In 2021, he will have a solo exhibition at the CRAC in Sète.

Essentially sculptural, Antoine Renard's work is situated where "culture, science and politics can overlap and generate a dialogue". Through narrative environments nourished by numerous researches, Antoine Renard raises current techno-political issues, consequences of a neoliberal world whose manifestations and drifts in the digital sphere he evokes.
The exhibition AMNESIA brings together a set of 27 olfactory sculptures, in the continuation of those proposed in 2019 at the Palais de Tokyo. Made in ceramic with a 3D printer and directly inspired by Degas' Little Dancer, an iconic and sulphurous work of modern art, they pose the question of the body as an object as a properly contemporary condition.
