For the first time, the featured artist at the Contemporary Textile Art Biennial will receive a retrospective exhibition. This is Josep Grau-Garriga (1929-2011), one of the pioneers of contemporary textile art in the Iberian peninsula.
Josep Grau-Garriga participated in the II, III and IV editions of the Biennale Internationale de la Tapisserie de Lausanne (1965, 1967 and 1969), references in the development of contemporary textile art and in the tapestry revolution which, abandoning the tradition of mural work, entered in the field of expanded sculpture, conquering first volume and then space through the creation of large-scale installations. Curated by Esther Grau Quintana and Lala de Dios.
