Panorama of Portuguese contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day
In 2022, the Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MÉCA will celebrate Portugal through an exhibition and the publication of a catalog. This project, conceived by curator Anne Bonnin, is a unique opportunity to discover the Portuguese art scene in the New Aquitaine region and beyond.
The collective exhibition will offer a panorama of Portuguese contemporary art from the 1960s to the present day. This project, which does not pretend to be exhaustive, is intended to be forward-looking towards both the present and the past: it brings together and confronts artists from very different generations and backgrounds, all linked to Portugal. Thus, the exhibition will draw a map of affinities and contrasts, exploring existing or possible filiations, past and present. Giving a preponderant place to living artists, it will be the occasion to discover artists little or not known in France.
