Agnès Varda was a major film director known for her movies and documentaries. But what is less known is that she also created contemporary artworks: installations, models, photographs and video works. The Pôle d'Art Contemporain de Cannes thus proposes to explore her universe as an old filmmaker, a young plastic artist as she herself said.
At the Malmaison, the exhibition is structured around the theme of the sea, which has often inspired Agnès Varda. The exhibition at the Villa Domergue allows visitors to discover the Cabanes, installations, images and models around her films. As in her cinema, Agnès Varda approached with her plastic works the themes of daily life, memory, intimacy and the universal.
